Chakras

Dear all

I have received various queries regarding Activation of Chakras ... Most of the people are curious about how we/they can directly deal with chakras in body, as whatever we are possessing traits, nature, personality, fear, desires etc., its all about our past karmas/ past birth deed, due to which our chakras got influenced and  due to which they are in particular state ...

So in my coming posts, all of you will come to know about yourself (nature/persona) in the light of chakras and how to activate them through yogic techniques ...

Nadi Shodhan Pranayam (for Purification of Nadis)

First of all I want to say sorry to all of my dear friends and members for not updating this blog regularly, actually now a days I am getting busy with my clients.

Well in my series of various yogic techniques, now I am going to tell you and explain Nadi Shodhan Pranayam.

Nadi Shodhan Pranayam-

Nadi means “Plexuses” and Shodhan means “to purify”

You may be acquainted with the term Nadis which means plexuses i.e. intersection of nerves. These nadis can be obstructed and blocked due to our previous deeds, present deeds, fooding habits, thought. Due to which reason prana shakti (life force), by which our whole body system functions, gets weaken and sometimes completely blocked.

The blockage of these nadis can cause various kinds of diseases including cancer, diabetes, long term diseases etc.

By practicing Nadi Shodhan Pranayam, we can clean our nadi system so that prana shakti (life force) can flow and be maintained throughout body.

Most of the persons gets confused between anulom vilom and nadi shodhan pranayam, well let me explain that nadi shodhan pranayam is advanced form of anulom vilom. However, anulom vilom also clean nadis but Nadi shodhan pranayam have greater impact on nadis and invoke yogic fire (yoga agni), which purifies nadis in less time.

In fact, no pranayam (breathing technique) can give any result unless your nadis are clean and pure. So every yoga practitioner should practice Nadi Shodhan Pranayam daily, so let me explain Nadi Shodhan pranayam.

In Nadi Shodhan Pranayam, first we have to inhale from any of one (left or right) nostril (preferably from left nostril) slowly and the moment you stops inhaling for that nostril, you have to hold your breath inside and simultaneously you have to perform mulbandha (with lower abdomen in) & Jalandhar bandha for such time as you can hold your breath comfortably; and when you feel that now you need another breath, then you have to exhale slowly. This is half procedure and you have to repeat the same procedure from other nostril also. This will complete one round of nadi shodhan pranayam. You have to do nadi shodhan pranayam in the following proportions-

Inhale (purak) – 1

Breath hold (Kumbhak) -4

Exhale (Rechak) -2

That is, by doing inhaling-holding breath-exhaling in the ratio 1:4:2, your breathing capacity will be increased gradually and your nadi system will be purified in due course of time.

By practicing NadiShodhan Pranayam (atleast for 4 times in morning, noon and evening) , your sushmana naadi will be awakened and you will feel that now your both of nostrils are working regularly for long time. It’s one of symptom before awakening of kundalini shakti.

Nadi Shodhan Pranayam is one of technique by which Prana shakti meets Apana Shakti at Manipur KShetra (Navel) consciously, and when these two forces meets, spark generated, which in result can activate and invoke kundalini shakti.

I remember that when my kundalini shakti gets awakened, my sushmana was activated continuously for months without break.

Ashwini Mudra

Ashwini Mudra is a very powerful mudra by which we can uplift our energy into sushmana. Literally Ashwini means "Horse" and Mudra means "pose" and this name has been derived due to reason that Horse uses to do this kriya naturally to pull out is excreta.

If you ever feel that your nostrils are blocked and if you want to open both currents of nostrils, then you can open both currents ( into sushmana nadi) by doing this ashwini mudra.

Ashwini Mudra -- To do ashwini mudra, first you have to sit in a comfortable asana like sukhasana, padamasana, vajra asana etc., in which you can put your backbone and neck in straight position and then exhale your breath completely and restrain incoming breath from coming inside; thereafter you have to contract and release your anus (sphincter) for a maximum number of times as much as you can do so; And after that inhale and get relaxed. Contractions of sphincter can be made at such frequency as you feel comfortable but normally 2 contractions per second is good.

Ashwini Mudra will help new yoga practitioners to locate sushmana nadi as well as apana energy. It will be better if you can practice Ashwini Mudra in sets like 70x3= 210 contractions in one sitting.

Last but not least that you are better judge to know the intensity of your sadhana and presence of competent yoga guru is must while practicing any kind of yogic sadhana because it deals with powerful energy currents (Prana and Apana Shakti) ...

TRIBANDHA MUDRA

Dear all

The next Kriya which I am going to explain is Tribanda Mudra but before that I would like to throw some light on three Bandhas named as Mul Bandha, Udiyana Bandha and Jalandhar Bandha.

As the literary meaning of hindi word Bandha is “lock or to restraint” but in actual these Bandhas are applied and practiced by the yogis to chanalise the flow of prana energy in the body and to restraint the reverse the downward flow of Prana energy. You will be surprised to know that this single kriya has given me memorable experience.

The name of first Bandha is “Mul Bandha”à Literal meaning of Mulbandha is Root Lock, Mool means Root and Bandha means Lock. Most of the people are confused about location of mulbandha, they wrongly try to pull anus, which in actual is not moolabandha but it is known as Ashwini Mudra. To better understand the location of Muladhara chakra is to first concentrate upon your natural flow of breath, the moment you will be able to concentrate on the natural flow of breath, you will find that when breath is coming in, your belly comes out and air is filled in your lungs similarly when your breath goes out (on its own), your belly naturally comes in, but during this procedure, your lower part of the body also feels some pull, which is also felt at area known as perineum i.e. area between anus and scrotum.

Moolbandha is done by pulling the muscles of perineum and lower abdomen, which yogis use to do in Sidha asana by putting one heal at perineum region and other on genital organ by placing their other heal horizontally at lower abdomen area. Initially, if you find difficult to pull perineum muscles then you may first try to do Ashwini mudra by pulling your anus muscles. Gradually, you will be able to do moolbandha perfectly.

The Second bandha is known as “Udiyana Bandha” à as the literal meaning of Udiyana is to fly and bandha is lock. Here Udiyana means to make the prana energy fly or you may say escape from lower region of energy centre i.e. mooladhara. Udiyana Bandha is practiced simply by exhaling all your breath and then restraint the incoming air (out) at will. During this Udiayana Bandha, the yogi tries to pull his abdomen muscles inside towards its back, which in actual creates suction effect upon prana energy to move upward towards Sahastrasar.

The Third Bandha is known as “Jalandhar Banda” à This Bandha is practiced by pulling chin inwards towards throat but it is important to note that your neck must be kept straight in line with your backbone (like soldier pose) so that prana energy from mooladhar towards Sahastrasar must flow without restriction but at the same time Jalandhar Bandha restricts any heavy flow of Prana, which sometimes happens, towards Sahastrasar, so that brain vessels could not be damaged. It is very essential to know that these Kriyas are very powerful one and everyone must practice these kriyas under guidance of any competent guru.

TRIBANDHA MUDRA

This Tribandha Mudra is so powerful, that it alone can awake your kundalini shakti from mooladhara and send it to Sahastrasar. Even I have experienced this phenomenon that’s why I am saying this to you.

Tribandha Mudra is practiced by first applying Moolbandha (Root Lock) then Udiyana Bandha by exhaling all breath out of lungs and by pulling abdomen muscles towards back and then by applying Jalandhar Bandha to restrain incoming air (breath) from coming inside lungs and keep the breath out till such time as you may do comfortably. This Tribandha Mudra gives great results when your sushmana is awakened.

Agnisar Kriya

Helo my dear friends
Last time I told you Kapal Bhati Kriya and this time I am going to tell you “Agnisar”. As the name itself reveal the effect and nature of kriya which literally means Agni-Fire and Sar- essence/crux. We can do this kriya after doing kapalbhati or in between two sets of kapalbhati. You have to follow all do’s and don’ts as already elaborated by me in my earlier posts. So while keeping in mind that you people already knows all do’s and don’t’s, let me describe this Agnisar Kriya –
In this kriya the first thing is to inhale full breath in your lungs /belly which in consequence will uplift you chest cavity little and then exhale your breath fully in such a manner that your belly/navel moves towards your back; And you have to kept your exhaled breath outside without letting any air to come in so that your belly/lungs remains empty air; while keeping this position/state, you have to move your belly in and out as you use to do in kapabhati kriya for few times [50-100] as per you capacity and after completing this movement [i.e. in and move out process], let the air come in and relax yourself until your breath becomes normal.
You must be careful while doing this kriya – In this kriya your belly moves in and out [as you use to do in kapalbhati], while your lungs remains empty of air; whereas in kapalbhati kriya you use to exhale with force and breath comes in naturally [without any effort]; For better understanding you may see Baba Ramdev in his demonstrating video or on TV channels. In crux, the difference between Kapalbhati kriya and Agnisar Kriya is – Agnisar kriya is done without any presence of breath whereas in Kapalbhati breath use to come in and out.
You must be little careful that while exhaling or doing this kriya, you must not be feeling dizzy or like thing and every person must use his mind [Please Note that all yogic techniques must be learnt and practiced under guidance of competent yoga guru and this text is just to give additional information and it doesn’t replace practical doing under any competent yoga guru/master]. This Agnisar Kriya will invoke your Jathragni [fire] which will overall affect your digestive system. It’s act like an elixir for people having indigestion or for yogi’s who use to sit in one posture for long time. It harmonizes your internal digestive/abdominal system and has long lasting effect on your breath also. If you do this kriya for 5-10 times then it will also invoke sushmana current which in result will invoke your latent faculties in your body.
