Purpose of Meditation

Hello Friends, I hope all of you and your dear ones are safe doing good in your life. I am receiving many queries about meditation and what is the purpose of meditation in anyone's life.

In my previous post, I had tried to clarify that why most of people are not getting real benefit of meditation as they are trying to meditate by their mind which in itself is biggest hurdle in meditation and secondly, most of people are focussing their consciousness on something external objects or even internal points inside body below Agya Chakra. Rather the true meditation is not about focussing attention but to withdraw attention from where it is emanating i.e. to its original source which is none but our true self i.e. soul.

Now the question arises that "what is the purpose of true meditation". To answer this question I want to first ask one question that "who are we ?" .. I must say 99% people will identify their true self from their physical body. They would say my name is so and so, my father's name is so and so. This is because they are only aware about this physical world and their physical body and not aware about higher planes of consciousness. And this is simply because we have been habituated since our birth to seek everything including spiritual knowledge outside and not within. Here the role of meditation starts. If you meditate within then within short time you would come to know that you are not body but something within it.

Meditation is a way to know about your own true self. Now the question arises, what is our own true self. Now, here we have to understand about our true consciousness which is none but our soul. You can equated the light of one soul with 16 physical Sun, which we see in outside world. The Soul is our pure consciousness but our awareness has been put at outside world for so long time which we can't know that we have forget our true being and starts identifying ourselves with physical body.

In meditation, when our consciousness starts moving within ourselves then we slowly slowly experience that we are not this physical body but there is something else within. and this physical body is just like clothe which soul is wearing. If anyone goes within then he/she would found that there is another world inside ourselves which is much bigger than what we see outside and we call it our Astral Body. Many people got confuse Astral Body with Soul. Our all sensory functions still operates in this Astral Body. Actually this astral body overlaps with physical body when one is alive and after death, soul keep wearing this Astral Body as one of clothe and waits for next as per previous births deeds (Karma). But actually we are not even an Astral body and this is another clothe/cover which soul is wearing. During meditation, when one goes deep within, then he/she come to know that even Astral Body is not our true self but there is another realm which we call Causal Body, which is responsible for all creations whether inside or outside body. It is the causal force which creates mind and keep soul from its true self or consciousness.

To be very honest, any meditation technique cannot take you beyond Astral Body and it is only your love and devotion towards True Master (Satguru) who takes you beyond Astral Body. This Causal body cover of soul is not our true self and only True Master who himself has experienced SatLok/Sachkhand can take you beyond Causal body and beyond causal body, the soul find itself in its true consciousness and Soul experiences there as unit of total consciousness (Parbraham). All power operates under Causal Body and not beyond that because nothing exists beyond causal body. And I must say that there are only few marked souls who happened to merge with total consciousness and become one with it.

So meditation is just like a tool which allow us to move our awareness within and to higher regions which are unknown to us and even which are beyond our mind. The whole world including whole Universe, Galaxies, Planets have been created in space and mind. Space means Time which is Kaal. So mind (mann/Kaal) is that power who has created this whole Universe, multiverse etc. but the Unit of pure consciousness is beyond all this.

If anyone spends its whole life in searching spirituality outside even then he/she would not move even an inch in spiritualism but if you inwards your awareness in meditation then definitely you would start experiencing all such experience which are not within our knowledge. This is such a topic that I can keep writing incessantly but same cannot be explained and that's why I just say to search for True Master and go within..

True Meditation

I hope all of my friends are  doing good and they are safe in this Covid -19 Pandemic. But when whole world was under lockdown due to this pandemic, I got plenty of time to meditate within and even many times I had dipped into deeper meditative state which gave me immense and beautiful experiences of my own self.

I am getting various queries regarding meditation and also that most of the people didn't get actual benefits of meditation despite of fact that they are doing this since many years.. I had wondered why and how this happening to them .. and when I had asked them that what meditative techniques they are following, I found that most of people are meditating on something external and not following meditation prescribed by profound Yogis and Saints.

That before practising any kind of meditation, the first thing anyone should know is "what is mind". Many people will say mind is such a system of human being which rationalises things and do all logic works etc. etc.

But when we see it in spiritual way, the mind is all such distractions whether mentally or physically which doesn't allow you to sit even for a second. When we say sit, it means sitting without any thought. Now another question arises, is it possible to make a mind devoid of thoughts.. the answer is 'no' because the moment your thought goes the mind also goes at that very moment.. both are two sides of one coin.

So the biggest problem in meditation is our own mind which always jumps like monkey here and there and doesn't sits idle for even a moment... So the question -why most people doesn't get benefit of meditation is that they want to do meditation by their mind itself. They want to concentrate their mind by fixing or concentrating on some object whether internal or outer the body, which never happens because its very inherent nature of mind to get involve in new thoughts, things, activities etc. and it doesn't allow us to meditate on our own true self. Even in meditative state, mind continue to distract our consciousness on different planes and doesn't allow the consciousness to be aware of higher realms of consciousness. When we say being aware of higher realms, it doesn't mean calmness of mind because you can get calmness by different methods and some times even through drugs. We are not here to get some calmness from our daily stress or to cope up our physical world difficulties but we are here to know our true self by raising our consciousness at higher planes, which are beyond mind. In other words, the soul is like crystal clear lake and mind is such distraction which creates ripples in lake just to make you unable to see your face clear.

Here another question arises, whether mind and our own self is one... The answer is 'no' .. Our own true self is not a mind but it is totally different from mind and body though due to our previous and this birth samskar we confuse ourselves with this body and mind but in actual we are neither body nor mind.

Then the real question arises, how we should meditate to come over our mind and take actual benefits of meditation..

The key and secret is that we don't have to concentrate on anything but we have to withdraw our attention inwards naturally just like tortoise withdraws its limbs and sits securely inside its shell.  Various profound yogis have prescribed various meditation methods to put attention inside like Vipassana, Surat Shabd Yoga. But I always suggest that practise that meditation method which teaches you to put your awareness behind eyes and not at any chakra below eyes. Because, all chakras (including Muladhar, Swathisthan, Manipur, Anahat and Vishudhi) can give you just experiences of different energy levels but it cannot take your consciousness to higher realms and to real abode of your soul.

Therefore I always advise to practise Surat Shabd Yoga by searching True Master (Satguru) who can give initiation to you by giving secret practise word to enter into real spiritual world. I am practitioner of Surat Shabd Yoga since last 31 years and I found that this is the most effective method to not only meditate easily but to enhance your awareness to higher levels which are generally not known to most of yogis, sadhus, meditator etc. Various highly enlightened Indian saints like Sant Kabir, Guru Nanak, Sant Ravidas, Sant Dadu and many more other highly enlightened saints have propagated this method to masses. Even in Bible, the opening line of John Gospel it is said that "in the beginning there was a word and the word was with God and the Word was God" . What else could be explained better than this. Infact, this is Roya El Camino i.e. royal path towards spirituality.

So the secret is to go within and not anywhere else .. This body is temple of soul given by the God (Creator) and you can find God or Soul within and nowhere else...  at last but not least any meditation without love and devotion towards True master (Satguru) cannot take your awareness at higher realms of awareness. If any one have any query then I am always available to help you.

Keval Kumbhak ~ Dawn of Yoga

Many Yoga practitioners have asked me a question about Keval Kumbhak...

Nowadays many people are getting interested in Yoga Philosophy and in fact, they have started doing Yoga techniques either on their own or through their Yoga teachers. But most of the Yoga practitioners are having knowledge about Asanas, some of the breathing techniques which they referred to as Pranayam like Purak (Inhalation), Rechak (Exhalation) and Kumbhak (Retention of breath). But all these breathing exercises have been practiced by them in conscious level or in other words, we can say that they are doing all these breathing exercises in robotic form. Though Breath is not to be controlled forcefully.

Keval Kumbhak means an absence of Purak (Inhalation) and Rechak (Exhalation). Which means complete cessation of breath, neither inhalation nor exhalation. But this condition is not to be obtained by forceful restraint of breath either outside or inside the body like in Hathyoga. Then the next question arises, how this could be possible.

Before explaining the phenomenon, I want to tell you that mainly Prana (Vital force) in our body is divided in five main Pranas and five sub pranas.

PRANAS:
  1. PRANA: For respiration like breath in.
  2. APANA:Respiration i.e. breath out.
  3. UDANA: It discharges body impurities. Swallowing of the food. Sleep.
  4. VYANA: Air that moves throughout the body maintaining body pressure to perform body organ functions. Circulation of Blood.
  5. SAMANA:  Samana is the air that maintains equal pressure all over the body . Digestion.
Sub Pranas:
  1. NAGA: Burping, Hiccup.
  2. KURMA: Blinking, Opening of the eyes.
  3. KRUKARA: Sneezing, Hunger and Thirst.
  4. DHANANJAYA: Opening and closing of heart valves. Decomposition of the body after death.
  5. DEVADUTTA.: Yawning.

So through all pranas, the human body works and whenever the flow of any prana is disturbed, the diseases occur in the human body.

Apart from other physical functioning of Prana Shakti (Vital force), our mind is also get associated with the Prana. Mind and Prana are just two sides of the same coin. If you can control one, the other will get controlled automatically.

If you can control your thoughts then your prana will also get controlled and poised.

Saints generally don't work directly on Prana Shakti directly but they work on their mind i.e. Chitta, which is to be controlled primarily, by doing meditation on the holy word (Shabd) given by the Sadguru to his disciple.

But the yogis do work on their Prana day by day by using Yogic Kriyas and make their Prana totally poised, which gives them full control over their Prana as well as Chitta. And the controlled Chitta ultimately lead the soul to Moksha or Salvation or Atmasakshatkar.

Now, the basic question remains the same that how any person can cease inhalation and exhalation without stopping it forcefully.

The profound yogis have developed various Yogic Kriyas like Khechari Mudra by which, your breath cycle starts reducing in caparison to the normal human body.

On an average, human take 23040 breath per day which means 960 breath per hour. But the yogic kriyas reduce this breath rate from 23040 to less than 1440 without any stress on the body, which ultimately makes the pulsating Prana Shakti calm down and become poised. And this Yogic process ultimately leads to Cessation of Prana (Inhalation) and Apana (Exhalation) and they Unite together.

In Geeta it is written -
apane juhvati pranam
prane 'panam tathapare
pranapana-gati ruddhva
pranayama-parayanah
apare niyataharah
pranan pranesu juhvati

Meaning thereby that -
If anyone can offer Prana (downward air) in Apana (Outward air) or vice versa, the Pranayam is done.

Hence, the Keval Kumbhak is not only the final outcome but it is the only pranayama, which yogi do.

But the basic principle is that Keval Kumbhak happens on its own and not by any force.

I have experienced this Keval Kumbhak by another Yogic Kriya known as Chakra Anusandhan or Chakra Bhedan Kriya. It is one of yogic kriya of Kriya Yoga.

I want to say many more on this topic... so I will keep updating the same. The interesting one may contact me on my email - judis.legal@gmail.com

How to start Yogic Life in Today's world

I have come across a common question from many people that how they could lead Yogic life in today's Choatic daily routine... The question which has been put to me is a practical difficulty for many more.

Before giving the answer to this question let me say something about what the yogic life is ?

Yogic life doesn't mean that you have to leave your daily work or you have to restrain yourself from your daily life routines but it means you have to learn how to Remain Calm and posed in all situations... Which is not that easy..

Yoga teaches us how to calm our various energies and how to channelize them.

Most of the people will ask - what do you mean by Channelize.

Channelize means when you start working on your energies/Prana/Vital force then you have also started Channelizing them i.e. to change the direction of that vital force/energy from the outer world to inner world. Which at present has become more Chaotic than the outer world due to the effects of our deeds on our mind and soul.

Let me explain this.. Whenever you closed your eyes.. you start seeing another world of thoughts surrounding you and making you uncomfortable. And to avoid that thought process, you again start focussing on the outer world which again makes you more disturb and in fact, it weakens your natural ability/instint to go inward easily.

For this reason only, the Gurus/Saints/Yogies have invented various Yogic Techniques to make your mind calm and posed by doing simple practices so that your Chitta (mind) could be posed/fixed for some time on the single point.

The meditative techniques or methods or ways may be different for different persons but the aim is the same i.e. to get in touch with yourself by cutting the mind from the outer world.

As I have many times suggested to many persons, that if you don't know anything about yoga even then you can try to sit in simple asana (sitting simply on the bed) with eyes closed and straight spine and doing nothing. Because doing nothing is also a kind of yoga which later or sooner will lead to focused mind. The habit of mind is to go outward and not inward. Due to which reason Maharishi Patanjali said that Yoga Chitta Vritti Nirodha .. stopping modifications of mind is Yoga.

So in today's world, where there are numerous and never-ending aspirations, desires, situations etc. then how these yogic states could be attained. Now the answer lies in the question.

All such aspirations, desires, situations etc. are the outcome of our deeds done in past or even in past births and it has not been arisen in a day or month or in a year. And such aspirations, desires, have been further strengthened by us due to our day to day lifestyles and old habits.

But if we make a determination to change the same by adopting the correct way of life and by devoting some time in meditation to learn how to make our mind calm and posed then definitely in some time, you will find that your life is not that Chaotic as it was earlier and you will find your life in more harmony with your soul and nature.

I can suggest a very simple method to do this. We call it Naam Jap or Surat Shabd Yoga. Naam Jap is the simplest and easy to do meditative technique for those persons who do not have the time to learn complex meditative techniques.

My suggestion is that Naam/Shabd needs to be taken from the Sadguru/True master, who has practiced this yoga. Though you can start on your own also by taking any name of God (short one) and start focusing on that seed word. It may be Ram, Shreem, Kreem, Allah, Humm etc.

At the time of Chanting such seed words, you can also try to focus on your nose tip or on Kutastha which is a point where the nose and two eyes meet. But my advice is to not do such Yogic Kriyas on your own and try the same in the guidance of an expert teacher.  Please take my words as a caution. But the chanting name of God with eyes closed can make you to achieve calm and posed mind atleast. Although the aim of Yoga is much higher. But such a simple thing will change your life and will make your mind more focussed.

This topic does not end here.... I will keep writing on this...

My next post will be on keval kumbhak... What the Keval Kumbhak is and how it could be achieved.

YOGA NIDRA (YOGIC MEDITATION IN SLEEP)

Nidra is hindi word which literally means "Sleep" but Yoga Nidra is not a yogic sleep but it’s a yogic technique to relax and calm down conscious mind to reach subconscious mind, which is store house of all possibilities, powers, past birth memories, cause of present, our present nature, attitude towards life and the reason for our present being.

Yog Nidra is a tool to unlock that vast source of energy/consciousness which would definitely change your attitude towards life and not only this but you will also come to know about the causes of your sufferings in present life and its way out. You will be surprised to know that by practicing Yoga Nidra, I have many times slipped in transcendental state and have seen my 2 previous births. In yogic nidra, you become aware and become observer of event, like watching TV without getting involved into drama; however, your body get relaxed like in deep sleep and conscious mind also get calm down. The more your conscious mind gets calm down, the more you will get in touch with your subconscious mind. And you will find that your intuition is getting stronger and stronger day by day and in fact you will start getting messages from your subconscious mind which you have never expected. It is not like that you did not know that thing before but you were not having access to that. You will find increase of positive energy within yourself and you will also find that you have now become more compassionate and responsible towards other. It also decreases negative aspects of human like anxiety, anger, fear etc. You will find that every answer to any question lies within you.

Many ways have been written in various yogic text about how to do yogic nidra, but I will tell you my way of doing this. In fact I use to do it in two different ways- in one technique, I use mantra to calm down mind and in other technique I use to focus on breath to calm down concisions mind. Right now, I will tell you the second one.

First of all, you must find a place where you can be alone and will not be interrupted for at least 1 hour. It may be your bedroom or any other room. But i suggest that, you must practice it in your home only because some time person slipped in transcendental state of mind and remain there for hours.

At first, you have to lie down on carpet or mat in which you can lie down straight on back comfortably without any difficulty. The mat should not be very cozy or hard. It should be comfortable only. You should lie down on back in straight line in which you can put your neck straight like you do in standing position, by keeping your feet 1 foot apart. Now, at first, you just try to bring your awareness on your breath. That how your breath is coming in natural way and how it’s going out. You may think that by inhaling breath, a warm and positive energy is coming from head and going outward through legs by taking your all tensions and anxiety. And if you find any tension in any part of body then do concentrate on that part of body for a while and you will see that tension in that part of body has been reduced and gradually vanished. By focusing on breathing pattern (i.e. natural exhaling and inhaling), you will find that your mind and its chatter box is getting calm and simultaneously you body is also getting relaxed. But beware; there is thin line between Yoga Nidra and Sleep, many practitioners slipped into sleep rather in yogic nidra. In Yogic Nidra, you become more aware about any thought and witness that thought like watching TV. But at same time, you must also try to not involve in thought despite of fact that it’s bad or good thought. Because, if you will not get involved in that thought then you will see that gradually you have overcome that event/thought. Gradually you will see cessation of thoughts and stillness of mind. The more your mind gets stilled, the more you will get in touch with sub-conscious mind. It is not that you will find answers only in that meditative state but by practicing this technique, you will feel that the barrier which was restraint in conscious and sub conscious mind is getting thin and weak. And now you are getting various messages, thoughts from sub conscious mind.

In actual, when any person dies, the memories of that life gets stored in mind (chitta) which carries away with departed soul and when that soul entered into new body, that whole impressions comes in the form of sub conscious mind, which is nothing but you own experience, which you have gathered over 1000 of births. Every birth is a lesson for soul to get elevate in higher place of consciousness.

Yogic Nidra is a kind of meditation which makes you more aware about your thought process and the way to control that thought process. It takes you at that point from where these thoughts emerge. By regular practicing yog nidra, you will gradually gain mastery over this technique and you will start achieving meditative state in shorter period of time. You may get glimpse of your past births, future events, cause of long illness. For eg. if any bodies death has been caused by knife in particular part then that part of body must be affected in this life also. In fact past life regression is also based upon this technique but difference is that in yog nidra, you on your own get touch in sub conscious mind; whereas, in past life regression, any consultant uses hypnosis upon you to take you at that point.

I suggest every person to do yoga nidra in daily life to get control over your persona to have more positive attitude towards life and other beings.

Surat Shabad Yoga (Ancient Yoga)

Dear Friends

Let me tell you about that ancient yoga, which is propounded by all great Hindu Medivial saints of India. In actual, all hindu medivial saints like Saint Kabir, Guru Nanak Dev, Saint Ravidas, Saint Dadu Dayal, Saint Paltu Das etc. had not only practised Surat Shabad Yoga but also propounded the same to all their disciples and common mass. This is one of most easiest yoga which can be followed by any person. Even in Holy Bible it is said "In the begining was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God". The relevance of "word" is mentioned in all religion in some or other manner. So let me explain the "Surat Shabad Yoga".

The Literal meaning of Surat is "conciousness" (face of soul) and Shabad means "Word" given by true saint/Guru. In actual, this Surat Shabad yoga is mainly practised in Guru (True master/Guru)-Shishya (Disciple) Parampara (following) and every master initiates his disciple in this Surat Shabad Yoga by giving him a Word to meditate.

Basically, the "Word", which we are talking about, is not a wordly Word but it is that Word or Sound, which yogies/saints heard in their deep meditative state. But to reach that Spritual True Word, first we have to start practising in worldly Word given by True Master. And when your meditation on that Wordly Word matures, you further start perceiving that real "Word/Sound", about which all saints preached and advised.

Its human nature that every person easily understands worldly words and found himself/herself comfortable to concentrate on that worldly Word. And this is the reason, that evey True Master initiates every of his disciple in Surat Shabad Yoga with one Wordly "Word" and then teaches him, how to reach that Spritual True "Word/Sound", after attainment of which, your Soul get attracted towards that Vast Unknown  Power, which we called 'GOD" PARAM BRAHAM" "RAM" "SOHAM" etc.

Many people think that whats the need of Guru in doing this kind of Surat Shabad Yoga practice, any one can start chanting any Word like Krishna, Ram, Allah, God etc. But it is not the same thing, because True Guru not only give you "Word" but also teaches you how to meditate on it and at what point. Secondly, True Guru also imparts his/her spritual energy into you along with that Word, and its like a push. Meaning thereby that when you have both i.e. Right Direction and Push, You will start running on that Path. And Last but not lease, in spritual journey, we come across various obstacles which is created by our previous samskars and imbalance of Prana Shakti then True Master is the only safeguard for you. So my humble advice to all readers of my blog is that you must not start doing any kind of Yoga practise without proper initiation in it and without proper guidance. So please start searching true Guru first.

The effect of Surat Shabad Yoga is so great that when your inner conciousness start merging with Word then your ego will start melting and you will find yourself more calmed and peaceful. And by the time, you will proceed further in this yogic path, you will start experiencing various Yogic Sidhis like Keval Kumbhak i.e. where you breath ceases on its own without any effort, you will start having visions, you may recall your all previous births (like I have seen my two previous births in trance), you will hear that Spritual Sound, which yogies called "Anhad Naad", you can experience fourth state of mind i.e. "Turiya"  where Soul rest in peace with that unknown power.

The main features which makes Surat Shabad Yoga more relevant in present times are - First- its most relevant in present times, where most of people doesn't have time to deal with difficult and technical Yogic Kriyas. This Surat Shabad Yoga is easy to do and understand. Secondly, It can be done anywhere and anytime, without any previous qualifications or eligibility, though best time is early morning and in evening. This Surat Shabad Yoga gives you best possible early results and gets you more closer to your inner conciousness. Thirdly, Surat Shabad Yoga can be practised by any person following any religion etc.

PRANA & APANA YOGA

Dear Friends

Recently I got some mails from viewers of this Blog that they want to know about what is Prana and Apna and what is its function. So let me explain in brief that-

Prana and Apana are two vital forces (Prana Shakti) which works incessantly in all persons and when it stops,  the person died. The foremost efforts of true yogi is to first control Prana shakti and Apana Shakti and then to make effort to Unite Prana with Apana. Even Lord Krishna said in Gita that "A yogi who knows how to mix prana with Apana and vice versa, such Yogi is greatest among all Yogies". And the Moment Prana starts meeting / uniting with Apana, your breath starts slowing down and one day your breath will stop completely without any effort. Here, you will find a moment where there's no breath and also no mind at the same time. Meaninig thereby that as your breath stops on its own, your whole thought process also stops. And here your real inner journey starts and gradually your mind will become calmer and calmer day by day and one day your all energies will start ascending upwards towards higher chakras. At the same time, your all chakras will get purified and one day your Kundalini Shakti will reach your final destination i.e. your all energies will be reached at Sahastrasar Chakra where you will see your real identity i.e. Atma Sakshatkar (Self realisation).
